Before You, Before You

Now you go out with joy and are led forth with peace.

Once again, for some reason, I return to my favorite theme. We not only have lost sight of our own loveliness, but also of the loveliness of others. We keep looking and looking closer and closer, but all we see are flaws, shortcomings, faults, and failures, with very few exceptions. It appears that almost everyone is a loser. Now, toward the end of my years here, I think I have stumbled over the problem. It may well be that we have been looking through dirty glasses. What we see is the dirt on our glasses. Someone once called it “the log in our eye.” It must really be difficult to see with a log, or even just a splinter, in one’s eye. We really only obsess over things in others that are already in us. Otherwise, we might see it, but just not care all that much. When I get upset with a speeder, it is because I myself have been that speeder O so many times. The loud lady at the movie……I have been that person. The distracted driver…..that has been me! The one going on and on about themselves, that was me. If someone has a wound that has been stitched-up and is now under their shirtsleeve, and someone touches their arm, it certainly seems that that person hurt that someone. Actually, it was their old wound that hurt them and the person who touched the wound is completely innocent. Also, often wounded people strike-out at others, thinking that others have hurt them, when really, their own wound has hurt them……again.

SO FEW KNOW WHAT LOVELY, WONDERFUL, AWESOME SHINING STARS WE ALL ARE. THE CHURCH SHOULD HAVE TOLD US THIS! INSTEAD, YOU KNOW WHAT THEY TOLD US. NOT MUCH GOOD NEWS AND LOTS OF BAD NEWS. THEY TOO JUST DIDN’T SEE IT, ALSO WEARING THE SAME DIRTY GLASSES WE OFTEN WEAR. FORGIVENESS DOES SEEM TO BE IN ORDER:). I WONDER HOW JESUS SAW OTHER PEOPLE….AND HIMSELF? I SEE NO SCRIPTURES THAT CLAIM HE WORE GLASSES:). REALLY, HOW DID HE SEE HIMSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE?
