When we evaluate ourselves, we don’t have a clue. They, whoever they are, told us we are dispicable sinners, losers, hopeless, less than, have potential, want-to-bes, and various forms of non-sense. Only our Maker knows exactly who and what we are, and His opinion is almost universally held in low esteem. No wonder the churches are empting-out. I guess they can’t tell us who we are if they don’t even know who they are! It’s all in the Scriptures, but one has to be able to discern which Scriptures are over-ridden by which Scriptures and learn how to eat the chicken and spit-out the bones. Jesus could do it well. Let’s see what he had to say:). Here is a test for you: If you think of Jesus as a strong, powerful leader like the old testament warrior/kings like David, you probably have missed the heart of the gospel. Jesus is NOT the Lion Of Judah, a predator living off the lives of others. He is the Lamb Of God. It is we who live off His life, we who feed off His deeds and His words. This Lamb is meant to be consumed, not His flesh, but His words and deeds, thoughts and attitudes, his demeanor of gentleness and kindness and……what? ….taking no offense:). Wow! We too are lambs on the deep inside, but we have been taught to be lions, egos, but we are not egos. They all will evaporate when we drop these earth suites:). May as well drop them now:).
