You Are My Hiding Place - Lenny Smith

You even save me from myself!

There is an internal conflict we all seem to have. On the one side is our Maker, telling us from within that all is well, we are safe and secure in Him, the plan is unfolding right on schedule. Basically, we can lighten-up and enjoy this life because life is good. Often the Voice is a bit too soft to hear clearly, but it speaks words of comfort to us constantly. Now, there is also another voice in us. It is the voice of the fearful, worried, sad thing we call our self. Some refer to it as the ego. We actually believe that we are our ego. However, we are learning that egos developed in humans over thousands of years to help us survive and deal with lions, tigers, and bears, and people we perceived as “others.” Egos are defensive, aggressive, loud, sullen, sad, and mostly afraid…and…..they are not who or what we are. ONCE we learn how to identify our egos, we can learn how to do what Jesus told us to do with the ego: say “no” to it. It is not so hard to identify your ego. It is that thing in you that can not stand to be wrong, and is always at least a bit afraid of almost everything. It is not you! The real you is safe and secure, lovely, pure, kind, gentle, generous, and courageous! Perhaps our minds need to be reprogramed a bit? Or, a lot:). I AM the light of the world and the salt of the earth. I AM a well-watered garden. I AM the king’s delight! Yes! :).
